Motor Vehicle Accident Recovery Program
Car accidents can be difficult to not only mentally, but physically recover from. Symptoms can lead to decreased activity levels which can bring your mood down. After an accident, you may find yourself struggling to return to the gym, a walking program, or your usual activities that you enjoy. In some cases, this can lead to weight gain, depressive-like symptoms, and general frustration. At Whole Body Health Physical Therapy, we recognize this, and want to do everything we can to help.
Car accidents are shocking, but you are not alone. Motor vehicle accidents (MVA’s) that resulted in injury occurred at a rate of 80 injuries per 100 million motor vehicles traveled in 2012 according the the NHTSA. This equated to a staggering 2,362,000 people injured secondary to MVAs that year in the United States.
These injuries include, but are not limited to, the following:
Whiplash
Neck pain
Upper/mid back pain
Low back pain
Shoulder pain
Knee pain
Local bruising or swelling
Headaches
Dizziness
Tinnitus (ringing of the ears)
- Concussions
At Whole Body Health Physical Therapy, we can help guide you through the healing process that is associated with these injuries and reduce the likelihood of chronic, or long-term, pain development. Our programs not only address the issue at the joint level, but the entire body. At the end of your physical therapy program, we will help guide you towards conditioning your body back to the state it was before the accident. This can include going through your regular gym exercises together, assessing your previous sport movements and techniques, performing a running analysis, or assessing postures during lighter activities such as reading, writing, knitting, painting, etc. By doing these things, we can assure that all symptoms post-accident are resolved.
Car accidents aren’t planned nor are the effects on your body. Physical therapy can help you forget your accident and get you back to your normal self.
